John C Grech


John C Grech has had a most distinguished career, heading some of Malta’s leading public and private organisations. He is an economist and an independent professional and corporate adviser.

John has also reached high levels in the academic world, having secured his PhD in International Economics at the University of Geneva where he also taught economics. He is a visiting professor at the University of Malta and lectures at the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies.

Until recently, John headed his own consultancy firm, EMCS, which he founded in 1983. He has headed prestigious organisations as the Bank of Valletta, Malta Tourism Authority, Middle Sea Valletta Life Assurance, as well as being appointed director of the Malta Freeport Corporation. He served as founding President of the Mediterranean Bank Network.

John is also chairman of FIM Bank and serves as a director of several Maltese public and private companies. He is professionally active as a business and management consultant in Malta and overseas, having also acted in an advisory capacity to United Nations bodies.

He was one of the first to introduce scientifically researched opinion polling in Malta. He is a member of the British Institute of Management and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Management. In 1995 he was elected Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
